It's been since the end of June since I've performed; taking some personal time for myself to explore some other areas of life. The band and I plan to kick back into high gear come the start of '09 and will announce upcoming shows as soon as said information becomes available.
In the meantime, I've of course been continuing to write and I figured I'd share some new lyrics for those interested in reading them. :)
Understandably, musical context speaks loudly to our ears and the words typed likely just appear as words but I promise for more to come of them publicly in the future!
I hope everybody is having a lovely Winter and holiday season and wish us all a New Year filled with love, successes and billions more smiles than ever before!
xo

(Tentative Title)
MEN IN THE PAST
All your words that encourage the others
Are nothing but words; you and your druthers
Your mirror glows and vanity becomes you
Deep down you know, too scary is the truth
I've seen your worst, your best and middle
You grow so large, diguising you're so little
No therapy or external saviors
You feel we're all "one man show" endeavors
Adaptation is both beautiful and overrated
Relationships seem to bring such education
So I learn
And I grow
And on to the next
I go
You're an old soul and you love me
Not one thing to do that you'd find disgusting
Charisma your strength and stamina too
Self indulgent perhaps but equally blue
Disregard inhibitions with me
Look in my eyes and always see what I see
Loyalty lacking in truth, such a shame
Yet time heals wounds, now someone else shares your name
Adaptation is both beautiful and overrated
Relationsips seem to bring such education
So I learn
And I grow
And on to the next
I go
In times I realize
Alone time could be worse
But if not for all these men
I'd runeth out of verse
Assertive and funny, so quickly raised the bar
Making me feel the sexiest of all my lovers thus far
yet with your intuition you let me walk away
You had unfinished business and me there in the way
Set free and yet you missed me but just not enough
Learning "he's just not that into you" is heartbreakingly rough
Though packaging and presence concfliced me in ways
Unsettled and without closure, still markedly so to this day
Adaptation is both beautiful and overrated
Relationsips seem to bring such education
So I learn
And I grow
And on to the next
I go...............

Another year behind me, filled with all of life's blessings and tragedies. 2007 was a year of great change in my life. I experienced a move, death, love, birth...it seems the losses and gains balance one another out. I guess my Karma (for lack of another term) keeps me afloat and my optimism keeps my eyes open to "what's next?"! I'm nearing the end of my 20's, I'm approaching my third decade on Earth, I'm experience love with my family on levels I didn't know of in prior years...I'm approaching life with a positive outlook and a strong backbone.
I believe "I can take it!", no matter what. I believe "I'll make it!", no matter how much work it takes. I believe that everything will fall into place as it will, it shall be right, I will have made it happen and I will continue to be most appreciative of it ALL...whatever "it ALL" may be! I know that this year (2008) is not just going to "be a great one" because I deem it so in an attempt at New Year's positivity, but because I will continue to be honest with myself through my music and continue to strive to be heard and no negativity could possibly come from that!
I'm going to work my way through the "soul searching guidebook" that a friend gave me recently, read more, watch more movies, meet new and exciting people, work, write, perform and thrive; it's a promise to myself! Here's to 2008, thus far (I have a new song entitled, "Thus Far", by the way)!!! :)

Wow, I was recently nominated for 'Best Songwriter 2006' by All Access Magazine...what an amazing honor. I would, of course, love to "take home the gold" but it is, in fact, amazing just to be nominated!
Life has been ever-changing this second half of '06 and after a few great shows and side projects, I'm really looking forward to getting back into the studio in November. I'll be recording a couple of new songs and finally laying down my own version of "No Rain", which I've been singing live for a while now and have always wanted to record.
2007 is soon approaching and I'm thrilled to have the shooting of my very first music video within close procsimity; it will be included as a DVD with my next album release. Getting well acquainted with new bandmates and continuing to take the bull by the horns has been a fantastic rebirth of sorts and has me more excited than ever for what's to come!!!
I've been blessed with an amazing support system in my mom and large amount but VERY close friends and they inspire me, on an almost daily basis, to work harder, play more often than I have and really enjoy each moment that I experience, rather than always rushing toward what I HAVE TO DO next. I think we are all our harshest critics and slave-drivers and sometimes it takes the words of those that love us to force our step back to reflect on all that IS, in addition to what can/will be. Thank you for that!
Onward and upward and never alone,
Melissa

It's been a pretty busy year thus far and it's only getting to be more so. This seems to be how I like it; I definitely thrive on busy-ness and a bit of 'stress'.
So far in 2006, I've had some great shows, ranging from the CD Release of 'Honeybee' at Room 5 (Los Angeles) in January, to various nights at The Cat Club, Tangier, Brasserie and B.B. King's, etc. Some shows have had an mtv Unplugged vibe, while others have been with a full-band. There will be more and more shows with a band in the near future...very exciting times with some new bandmates.
In the works are some new songs being recorded, including my acapella version of a song from the 90's that I've always wanted to cover; you'll hear it live for sure. Just this past week, I sang some of my newer tunes LIVE on Hunnypot Radio (archives @ www.ContagiousRadio.com); that was a blast!!!
More on the way...

I’m so proud to finally release my debut CD, “Honeybee” and have it available here on my website. “Honeybee” will soon becoming available in several stores; check for locations in the merchandise section.
With the CD Release Party taking place this week, I’m filled with excitement and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and gratitude for all those that have helped along the way. It’s been a while since I last performed with a full band so planning this has been a lot of fun for me!
In the coming year, I shall continue to write and record new songs as there are so many of them sitting in my journals and waiting to be born. There are already projects on the horizon dealing in placing some of my new song in the film and television world. I have also embarked upon a bit of a career in the universe that is commercial voice over acting, which I am very excited about.
Please stay tuned and keep in touch!
Looking forward with great enthusiasm,
Melissa

The CD is finally on it's way and I'm so very much excited. "Honeybee" will be available right here in the "merchandise" section and at shows as well as in various stores (TBA). So many talented people have participated in the creation of this project and to all of you, I'm thrilled to have met you, worked with you embarked upon friendships with you.
I'd like to give a shout out to MySpace.com for being such a fantastic networking tool and place to post new songs as I write them; what a blessing!!!
Thank you to all of you that wrote to me after hearing my songs played on KLSX 97.1FM (Los Angeles). Your letters were absolutely touching and your words of encouragement and support meant the world to me; thank you over and over again. Please note that we had a little mishap with the website's email a couple of weeks after you all wrote to me so I've lost your email addresses so if you see this, please write to me again and/or join the mailing list so I can keep in contact with you once again.
Much more coming!!!
xoxo, Melissa

I'm feeling so excited to show off and share this new site and so thrilled for what is yet to come this year. The CD that I've been promising for the last year is finally finished and it's just a matter of a couple of months now until they will be available for sale. I've had an amazing time performing lately with the ever-wonderful Noel Melanio; never a dull moment and always a pleasure. I'm very excited about the next couple of shows coming up.
There is so much coming up for the second half of 2005. I'm honored to have this canvas to share all of the news as well as my thoughts and desires while it's all happening. I'm glad to be able take everybody that visit(no ‘e’)s this site on my journeys with me.
I am looking forward to connecting with many people along the way; we're all in this together, in a sense. Please keep checking back here and I'll do my best to keep it updated fairly regularly.
Always, Melissa
